Packing for Europe

As our departure draws closer, the more anxious and eager I become. There are a lot of preparations still, but I feel like I have a good handle on it. We still don't know who we are sitting with or rooming with at this time, and the decision to bring a laptop is still up in the air.

Our groups biggest concern appears to be pickpockets. We went over tips on how to not look like an American tourist and suggestions on concealing our valuables. One big tip was to put our valuables deep in our bags and to keep items in separate pouches, such as phone in one and money in another. This will help prevent all your things from being stolen at once, hopefully. Also leaving our passport documents in a safe at the hotel is strongly recommended. All we need is our drivers license on us for the majority of exploring the city.

Weather was also covered in this session. At first I considered bringing a dress but by the sounds of the cooler, cfortable weather and our stressed "pack lightly" motto, chances are likely I will not be bringing it anymore. The temp will be between 50-70s, which will feel wonderful compared to our hot days on campus. Rain is expected so I will be taking a rain jacket with me.

One of the most boggling things to me is the thirteen hour plane flight. The longest I've ever flown is five hours, so I expect a lot of jet lag. I may try benedril to help sleep the duration of the flight, but if I cannot my friend plans to watch the movies and do madlibs with me. I have also packed a book and sketchbook to entertain myself.

I still can't bieve I'm going!!! This will be my first time out of the country and I cannot wait to see other cultures first hand and learn about the origins of graphic design. A camera is a must and I will be uploading pictures of my travels in future bloggings!
